OUR HISTORY

The Diocese of WNC is proud to have had over a dozen young adults go on to participate in programs such as Young Adult Service Corps (YASC) & Episcopal Service Corps (ESC).  In 2018, Bishop José McLoughlin and Canon Augusta Anderson gave the support to gather a Steering Committee to explore the feasibility of creating a service corps community in the Diocese. Over the course of 2018 and 2019, the committee worked with Megan Cox, founder of Blue Ridge Service Corps, to lay the groundwork for the program, which had its inaugural year in 2020. Currently, BRSC is supported by the Diocese of WNC, Bishop Jose, the BRSC Advisory Board, Missioner for Youth & Young Adults Eden Lewis, Director Rev. Kevin Todd, partner organizations, and many others who share their resources with us.

From our founding, Blue Ridge Service Corps has committed to formation. We are a learning community, that values accountability and transformation. Collectively, we seek to learn from one another and the communities around us through relationship and experiences, co-working with others and God.

We are committed to bringing forth the reality of God's dream, where all people experience equity and flourishing.
